THE GREEN DEAL CENTRE

Energy conservation centre

It would be wrong to new build an eco centre so we aim to gain some funding to regenerate a disused 1400mm2 poultry unit when refurbished will be a green hub or energy conservation centre.
Eliminate fuel poverty and reduce fuel costs
• Generate local employment opportunities
• Create a sustainable community
Retrofit as many homes (houses and flats) in
Herefordshire & Worcestershire and the Gloucestershire borders by showcasing insulation
air/ground source heat pumps and solar PV panels  and providing a whole house energy solution.
Demonstrate biomass boilers with fast growing crops of multi fuel (willow or hazel) grown on site.
Show home owners, architects, installers, builders, developers and social/private landlords in the region an alternative by:
• Eliminating fuel poverty and cutting the cost of fuel to the properties by up to 50%
• Job Training in making briquettes, chestnut fencing, coppice work, making firewood, kindling, post & rail fencing in a sector for our green cluster or unemployed local community with a view to helping them to find jobs in the green collar industry.
• Providing training on the use of the renewable technology and other energy saving tips for others in the region even offering school trips or supplying knowledge to those who can assist their neighbours
Encourage alternative methods of transport by promoting local walks, equestrian or cycle paths all scoped including sites for/funding of/design of seats and path signage.
• ‘Waste’ project to be scoped – in conjunction with  Herefordshire Council
• Water conservation and harvesting project to be scoped – with sponsorship assistance from an Australian company
• Work with Cradley Parish Council to create a village of environmental excellence
• Local renewable energy manufacturers, designers and installers to create a greenhub piloted
Creating a profitable  “showcase” demonstrating the positive impact of sustainability on a community.
Easier to engage people by promoting micro-benefits like cost savings and comfort, rather than helping the planet.
• Providing information to residents on how best to use the new technologies is key to saving
• Local business stimulated through a green cluster of business contacts who are able to provide a ready source of support to each other
• Communication is often isolated and crucial to a new sector surviving so we will ensure a regular supply of information and easily
available supply channels.
• Funding is always a constraint for purchasing and we will form a membership allowing individual business owners to combine buying power.
• In spite of significant progress made in recent years, the renewable energy industry is still in its infancy and information
provided by suppliers needs to catch up with technologies.
As one day renewable energy will not be new, we will also encourage micro business owners with 10-15 minutes journey time to give up the back bedroom in exchange for the use of a desk to make a local business community to bounce ideas or set up new businesses without large cost and we will give mentorship and training to those going through a second career or new business
