Nick Maskery – Project Manager
Nick became the Project Manager in November 2009. His Forestry and Rural Development Experience has been gained in both the public and private sector, having worked for the Rural Development Service he was the co-founder of the Bioenergy West Midlands initiative. Nick went on to manage a wood fuel supply company in Ireland and returned to the UK and established his own successful biomass supply business, Green Energy Supplies. Nick now manages the team at Heartwoods and is responsible for the day to day running of the Heartwoods initiative, developing new projects and ensuring that the initiative delivers to a consistently high standard.
John Powell – Project Officer
John joined the Heartwoods team in January 2010 taking on the role of project officer. His forestry and rural development experience has been gained through several forestry roles including Estate Manager at Derwen College and Reserves Officer for Shropshire Wildlife Trust. John has specific responsibility for events and management of the Heartwoods Advisory Service programme. John also has a keen interest in Deer Management and has been involved in several educational training programmes.
Rachel Meehan – Project Co-ordinator
Rachel joined the Heartwoods project in January 2010 after working as the events co-ordinator for the Greenwood Centre. She brings with her considerable experience and knowledge of organising and successfully delivering rural and woodland based events and marketing activities. Rachel is responsible for the Heartwoods website, marketing and events as well as providing day-to-day support to the rest of the Heartwoods team. She comes from a rural background and has a love for the Shropshire and West Midlands countryside.
Melanie Smith – Project Co-ordinator
Melanie joined the Heartwoods team in June 2010. Melanie has worked for Local Government for a number of years and has experience of working on European funded projects. She is responsible for the project administration and finance, marketing and events as well as providing day-to-day support to the rest of the Heartwoods team.
